I changed one line. One tiny line.
A semicolon, left undone.
The linter shrugged, the tests looked fine —
By 5 PM the deed was done.
I hit deploy with joyful ease,
Then closed my laptop, grabbed my keys.
My phone buzzed once. I thought: oh please,
My phone buzzed twice. I hit my knees.
The stack trace scrolled like ancient scripture,
A
NullPointerExceptionshrine.I grepped for meaning, got the picture:
git blamepointed straight at... mine.Three characters fixed a three-hour fire.
I drafted the postmortem with care.
"Next time," I typed, strung out and wired,
"No Friday ships. I solemnly swear." 😅
Inspired by the universal developer ritual of deploying on a Friday — and immediately regretting everything.
